On March 20, 2010 the ASSA Board approved a new set of standard ASSA events. New events have been set up to improve the variety of options available to our summer swimmers:
- more distance options for backstroke, breaststroke and fly
- new 15&Over categories (replacing the 15/16 and 17&Over age categories)
- more age categories in distance freestyle (200, 400 and 800 metres)
- 800 and 1500 distance freestyle events now open to both boys and girls
- introduction of single heat finals (down from two heats) at Provincials for all distance freestyle events
Records for all new events will first be recorded after provincials and will reflect the fastest swim of the season. We will continue to maintain 15/16 and 17&Over records even though the events have been combined.
